Position Summary

Nomad is looking for a talented Transport Officer to join our team. Nomad employs a fleet of both company owned and fully managed third party (3P) vehicles which consist of heavy-duty trucks and trailers. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing assigned Nomad Trucks as well as 3P Partners and 3P drivers, ensuring smooth load operations and maintaining high-quality standards. Additionally, you will serve as the assigned 3P primary point of contact at Nomad fostering a positive and collaborative relationship. The position requires a high level of organizational skills, strong leadership, excellent communication, and a deep understanding of the transport industry. The candidate will have ample opportunity to help shape the structure and strategy of Nomad’s Load Operations and most importantly will help the Company build a reputation of reliability and excellence in the market.

Duties & Key Responsibilities


  • Serve as the day-to-day manager for all operational aspects of Drivers during load operations. Conduct regular check-ins, ride-alongs, and on-site supervision to ensure safety, professionalism, and compliance with Nomad SOPs
  • Coordinate, communicate and oversee all aspects of load management for assigned trucks
  • Monitor and track assigned trucks to ensure compliance with Nomad procedures, safety regulations, and specific load requirements
  • Manage assigned 3P vehicles and drivers with the same level of operational oversight as Nomad-owned assets. Maintain strong communication, track performance, and escalate issues as needed
  • Collaborate with Nomad team members to ensure effective coordination and alignment between 3P Partners and Nomad
  • Actively support the recruitment and onboarding of 3P transport partners and drivers. Identify and recommend reliable, professional 3Ps who meet Nomad’s high operational standards.
  • Provide training, coaching, and guidance to assigned drivers
  • Monitor KPIs and conduct regular performance reviews in order to provide feedback to drivers to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports and dashboards summarizing operational performance, trends, and key insights of assigned trucks
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assigned trucks
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications Required

  • Four-year engineering or logistics degree from an accredited university
  • Proven experience in transport operations, logistics management, or a similar role within the transport industry
  • Strong knowledge of the Ghana transport industry, including familiarity with 3P dynamics, regulations, and requirements
  • Excellent leadership and managerial skills to effectively oversee 3P relationships and operations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence 3P partners effectively
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple vehicles simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Must speak and write Proficient English
  • Proficient in MS Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Transport Management and tracking software
  • Must be able to travel within Ghana as required
