Information Systems Control Officer

Role Purpose 

Main responsibility is to support IT and business systems with identifying control requirements based on key risks, for important areas where the Organization’s needs to comply with external regulations or need to have strong internal controls. Key compliance areas for IT controls include data and information privacy, PCI/DSS, ISO, data protection/privacy, Business Continuity, etc.  

Duties and Responsibilities 

·       Review of information systems to ensure that they support business functions in a controlled manner, identifying risk areas and preparation of reports for management information.

·       Controlling and evaluating IT and electronic data operations

·       Plan, organize, control and evaluate IT and electronic data operations

·       Monitor the configuration of all Organization’s applications to ensure they meet the standards.

·       Attend new product demos, presentations and ensure IT controls are sufficiently incorporated

·       Support process and control owners to understand risks within the ISO, PCI, Swift, business continuity requirements and assist in determining optimal controls to mitigate risks;

·       Supports management and staff to obtain useful financial information and reports.

·       Periodic review of systems to ensure exception reports are resolved.

·       Respond to mail requests for resets, profile changes and access revocation within 10 minutes of receipt.

·       Performs inspection work and prepare reports on findings.

·       Certify IT assets acquired or implemented by the Organization’s

·       Undertake Pre-inspection of new Branches IT systems

·       Proactively anticipate potential threats and vulnerabilities and provide guidance in coordination with MIS and CARDS departments on effective responses or control measures.

·       Enable continuous improvement, maintaining the Organizations’ controls catalogue, by providing general and technical guidance on how to maintain relevant controls.

·       Participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of control policies, objectives and programs.

·       Keeps abreast of new policies and procedures, current developments in the Organization’s including digitized systems and changes in Organizations’ operational processes.

·       Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned by the Head.

 

Qualification and Experience 

·       Hands on experience with computer systems, networks, application software’s and their control systems

·       BS in computer science, MIS or similar field

·       Knowledge on the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act, including COBIT (Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology) will be an advantage

·       Proven experience as an IT control officer or relevant experience in a Banking environment

·       Excellent knowledge of technical management and information analysis
